You can customize event ratios to define what ratio of events you would like to monitor. For example, you can create an event ratio that calculates the number of instructions per the number of branch instructions. After creating the event ratio, add it to a event ratio group, for easy access. After creating/editing an event ratio and running the activity, the ratio results appear in the summary pane of the source view.
Go to Windows>Preferences>VTune(TM) Performance Tools to open the Event Ratios Preferencespage.
Select the Category from the drop-down Categories list.
Click New Ratio....
The NewRatio
dialog box appears.
Enter the name of the new ratio in the Name field.
Enter the formula for the new ratio in the Formula field.
Enter the description for the new event ratio in the Ratio Description field.
Select your preferred event number format in the Format list, for displaying the event
ratios.
When selecting percentage format, the percentage may not appear where
irrelevant.
From the Add to Groups list,
check the boxes against the event ratio groups that you would like to
add the newly created event ratio.
The new event ratio must belong to at least one event ratio group.
Optionally, you can create a new group and add the event ratio to this group.
Try and maintain the predefined event ratios without modification. Edit an existing event ratio or add a new event ratio only if you are familiar with the way event ratios work. The online help does not cover issues related to user-defined event ratios.
