Relevant only for those data collectors specifically focused on application-centric performance tuning, the Application/Module Profile enables you to configure the execution of the application you are analyzing by defining an application to launch and/or modules of interest. The data collectors use the application/module profile to collect more detailed information on the application and the modules during the analysis. The type of information it collects depends on the data collector it is.
Depending on the data collector, an application/module profile can be required, optional, or unsupported. See the help on your data collector for more information.
An application/module profile is created as part of the Activity wizard, if you select an application to launch or add modules of interest.
Double-click the Activity in the Tuning Browser.
The Activity Configuration dialog box opens.
In the Application/Module Profile section of the dialog box, select an existing application/module profile and click Configure... to configure it.
The Application/Module Profile Configuration dialog box appears.
Select the application and or module(s) that the data collector collects data on.
The quickest way to setup the application/module profile is to type in, or browse to select an Application to Launch.
You can also enter one or more Modules of Interest. The data collector collects more detailed information on these modules. See Selecting Modules of Interest for more details.
For remote data collection, enter the name of system to launch your application on.
Click OK to close the Application/Module Profile Configuration dialog box.
Click OK to close the Activity Configuration dialog box.
The application specified in the application/module profile is automatically launched when you run the Activity.
use the -app-to-launch (or -app) option when configuring the Activity with the activity command..
