Selection Summary Panel

The Selection Summary panel appears on the right side of the sampling view. It provides the following information for selected items, by event:

• Number of samples collected for an event.

• Total number of occurrences of the event (Sample After value X number of samples collected for an event).

• Percentage of samples collected for the event (Number of samples collected for an event, for your selected module(s)/Total number of samples collected for the event of all modules in the current view) X 100).

For Hyper-Threaded Technology processors (if Show/Hide CPU Information is enabled), all samples collected for TI and TI-E events are shown as collected on logical processor 0. Number of events and % of events collected for logical processor 1 always shows a value of 0.

To use the Selection Summary panel:

1. Click the Selection Summary On/Off toggle icon in the sampling toolbar.

2. Select items in the horizontal bar chart format.
   Information dynamically appears for the selected items in the Selection Summary panel.

To view the Selection Summary panel by default:

1. Click Window>Preferences>VTune(TM) Performance Tools .

2. In the left panel, under Sampling, select the sampling view (Process, Thread, Module, or Hotspot) for which you want the Selection Summary panel to be visible.

3. Check the Show Selection Summary table option.
