Sampling View Preferences

Click Window> Preferences to open the Preferences dialog box. Double-click the  VTune(TM) Performance Tools to view the VTune(TM) Performance Tools. Double-Click Sampling to view the Sampling panels and set the default settings for displaying the sampling views.

Default View to Open

Use the Default View to Open drop-down list and select Modules or Processes as your default view.

Per Thread View

Use the drop-down list to select the percentage of samples that are shown in the Per Thread View. Remaining samples appear in the other column. For example, if you set this threshold to 80%, the threads that contain 80% of samples are shown in the Per Thread View and 20% appear in the other column.

Sampling Views

Remember last view settings/state

Retains changes made to default settings for a specific sampling view for the next time the view is used to display a result.

Enabling auto-scaling in bar-chart

Automatically scales the events to fit into the horizontal axis using the maximum value of the events.

Display tb5 file name in Legend

Displays the name of the results file. This feature is useful if importing a .tb5 file or if viewing the results of several .tb5 files.

Display Process ID value as a HEX format

Displays the Process ID in HEX instead of decimal numbers. This is applicable only to the table format.

Display Thread ID value as a HEX format

Displays the Thread ID in HEX instead of decimal numbers. This is applicable only to the table format.

Display Process/Thread ID values in HEX format

Displays the Process ID and Thread ID in HEX instead of decimal numbers. This is applicable only to the table format.

Display sample counts

Displays the number of samples collected for an event. This is applicable only to the table format.

Display event counts

Displays the total number of events collected for a selected event.

Display sample percentages

Displays the percentage of samples collected for an event. This is applicable only to the table format.

Hide non-key static columns

Hides the non-key static columns such as Module Path, Module ID. All columns (including key columns) can be hidden by right-clicking a view, and from the Column layout dialog box, unchecking the column name you wish to hide.

Display Idle Time View

Displays the percentage of time the selected logical processor was idle.

Display Thread Information

Threading Information

Display thread information

Make thread information available for the selected processes.

Don't display thread information

Make thread information unavailable. The Thread icon in the sampling toolbar is disabled.

Drill down operations

Reuse existing window

Choose this option to display the result of each drill down, in the same window.

Open new window

 

Choose this option to display the result of each drill down in a new window.

Open view as

A new window

Display each sampling view in a new window.

Tabbed with parent window

Display a tab for each sampling view at the bottom of the parent window. The tabs enable navigation from one view to the next.
