Runs

A run represents an instance when data was collected by launching the sampling collector and/or application once. During time-based sampling, a single run is all that is required to collect samples. During event-based sampling, the sampling collector may be launched multiple times to collect data on multiple events. The data collected for each event in a single run of the sampling collector, appears as a separate entry under a Run, in the Tuning Browser. Each run of an Activity to launch the sampling collector to collect data appears as separate Runs under the Sampling Results in the Tuning Browser.

Skipping a Run

If no events occur during a run, the Output window displays a message that  data collection for that run failed and the run is not registered in the Tuning Browser window.

However, in some cases, no samples are collected for only one event in a run but some samples are collected for other events in that run. In such cases, the run is recorded as a success in the output window. The legend will however, indicate that 0 samples were collected for the first event.
